Something about music

We always come back to music.
It comes very naturally due to Emilio being the shaman and artist that he is.

What music traditions do you hold?

When I grew up here in Sweden, I honestly didn’t know what was traditional music and what was the modern form. For me, it was rare to hear something old. Something traditional. It was when I reached my 20th something, when I discovered that we do hold a music tradition.
Unnfortunately a lot of the music is lost, the words is there but the tunes seems to be long lost. Sometimes I can track it down and incorporate it again. Sometimes I find something new.

The traditional music is very important. It holds ryhmes and stories, explanations to the outer world, and the inner world.
The rythms hold magic, the stories hold presence, they hold education and mostly they hold community.

That is what first got me drawn to Emilio and his working, the fact that he also collected stories. I mostly collect the story that we tell when we gather around the fire, he collects the story that is held with music.

It hurts us three to know that some of these traditions and stories soon will be lost. We need to let them live, remember and honour our ancestors.

It is so much healing in music, to be able to sing out loud and just be one with the song. To listen to the vibrations the run through your body when you sing the words. It is some of the deeper magic and healing processes that we encounter.And remembrance, they hold part of our stories.

Did your parents sing for you when were a toddler?
I still sing to my little ones, I feel that it is important. Sometimes they say they are to big for it, but sometimes, they still come and ask me to sing for them.
It creates a comfort, a connection and it is very grounding at the same time.
